A day in our class.
Children learn to play and socialize with other children and make great new friends that they can keep throughout their school years. They learn to follow instructions from others and become familiar with a classroom setting.
The day begins with library time, where the kids can return their books and choose a new one that corresponds with the theme of the day.

There is a new theme daily - it could be a number, a color, animals, or fire safety. The students learn in a bright and cheerful classroom and have access to a large play area and toy room. During classroom time students learn days of the week, months, seasons, etc. Circle time is where the kids learn patience and work on their speaking and listening skills.
There also is craft time, play time and snack time. During craft time, children work on their fine motor skills by cutting, drawing, coloring and gluing. The four-year-old children also practice writing their names. |
We have gymnastics mats that are used for running and tumbling during the winter months and a playground outside for use when the weather permits. Playtime is a favorite for the kids, and they have access to a wide variety of toys.
The children have a good balance of play and structured learning. The same schedule is followed each day so that the kids learn the routine and know what to expect.
Children are taught basic skills such as tidying up after themselves, including other children in their play, being polite, and having patience. Our teacher helps implement these lessons in a kind and gentle way. When arguments and conflict arise, children are asked to make better choices. The teacher helps to suggest what may have been a better way to handle that situation.
The preschool has a Christmas concert and year end celebration. The children spend time preparing songs for these events, and they look forward to having family come and see them perform!
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve made some changes to how we run the preschool. We’ve utilized a separate entrance and exit for drop-off and pick-up, we ensure children are sanitizing their hands before, during, and after activities, and we sanitize frequently touched surfaces and toys throughout the day. We follow all Government of Saskatchewan policies related to COVID-19 including but not limited to mask wearing, size limits on indoor gatherings, and the self-monitoring of symptoms. Please do not hesitate to contact the preschool at [email protected] if you have any questions or concerns about how we are safely managing the preschool during the pandemic.
